Frequentis Canada based in Gatineau, Quebec, is looking for a dynamic individual to join our well-established team as R&D IT Systems Administrator. As part of our team, working closely with Research and Development and Product Management you will support, troubleshoot and maintain up-to-date R&D development and Product Verification systems and networks which will be used to evaluate and verify Frequentis products and systems.

The position is based in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada and is open to Canadian Citizens, Canadian Permanent Residents and Foreign Workers that hold a valid Canadian Work Permit.

Key Tasks

  • Installing, operating and optimizing different LAB Systems and their infrastructures regarding availability, performance, usability, security and meeting internal customer requirements

  • Building, deploying, monitoring, tracking evolution and history, maintaining functional and up-to-date various product development systems, manual product testing systems, automated product testing systems and product demo systems.

  • Controlling and tracking lab system usage for best maintainability

  • Troubleshooting, analyzing, reporting and tracking infrastructure, product deployment and documentation problems.

  • Test infrastructure and product deployment problem report solutions as part of the problem tracking responsibility.

  • Gathering and documenting important technical or other type information, document references and knowledge details to share knowledge amongst the teams and as future references for product support teams.

  • Establishing, publishing and constantly improving best practice processes and procedures. 

  • Training individuals when required.

  • Supporting internal teams like sales, system integration, field service as well as external customers when required.

  • Acquiring knowledge to become influential on product decisions

  • Analyzing disruptions in LAB systems and in the security area, working out, documenting and implementing solutions to the problems

  • Updating and maintaining the LAB systems and infrastructure including patch management

  • Monitoring the LAB systems

  • Designing concepts for the further development of the LAB systems and infrastructure and implementing them

  • Working with the core team on internal R&D IT projects in accordance with project management processes

  • Documenting the systems and changes including change management

  • Processing service tickets within the response times defined by the SLAs

  • Ensuring the systems in their care are backed up including restore testing according to the Security Manager’s instructions.

  • Ensuring that the systems in their care are backed up and restored including participating in designing and updating an emergency concept

  • Regular monitoring as part of a continuous improvement process in the LAB systems and infrastructure

  • Determining influence on product decisions

  • Assuring continuous operation of the various LAB systems and their infrastructure regarding information security

Job requirements

Key Qualifications

  • College technologist degree or equivalent

  • High willingness to learn

  • Entrepreneurial/strategic thinking

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with a variety of operating systems including Windows Server 200x, Windows XP/7/8/10, Linux, Dockers, Ansible Scripting and others.

  • Network troubleshooting and analysis tools (Wireshark).

  • Good understanding of routers, switches and computer network configurations including firewalls.

  • Discreet approach/trustworthy handling of strictly confidential information

  • Excellent writing skills.

  • Ability to cooperate and to work in a team.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) will be considered an asset.
