Auger Hollingsworth is an accident and injury litigation law firm serving Ottawa, the GTA and all areas in between. We have offices across Ontario that allow us to best serve our personal injury clients. As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced People, Talent and Culture Development Manager to work closely with the co- founders on all Human Resources related initiatives. If you are eager to work in a growth oriented professional environment while applying your cutting-edge HR skills, this is the position for you! Also ideal for a professional with COO experience within professionals services industry.


We are looking for an "A Player" who thrives on figuring out how to attract and retain top legal talent so that the firm can continue to grow across Ontario. We can envision this HR professional working remotely from anywhere in Ontario with periodic visits to our Toronto and Ottawa offices. Ideally, full-time position but also open to part-time, contract/freelance or fractional for the right candidate.

The People, Talent and Culture Development Manager Role

Auger Hollingsworth is currently seeking a dynamic HR Manager to join our office in either Ottawa or Toronto. As a member of our team, this role reports into and works closely with the co-founders. Serving as an ambassador to the law firm, this HR professional will provide support to the Ontario offices, including Toronto and Ottawa and will collaborate with colleagues across all cities.


Responsibilities

  • Actively engaged in a full range of HR activities and processes across the law firm, including:

       -Talent Attraction and recruitment processes

       -Employer Branding initiatives in the marketplace 

       -Talent Onboarding and orientation

       -Professional development and fulfillment of all legal talent

       -Performance management and professional developmental

       support

       -Employee leaves and departures

  • Research and implement cutting edge, advanced strategies to attract and retain top talent
  • Understands the importance of and actions employer branding initiatives
  • Works closely with and maintains excellent rapport with all legal professionals across the firm to build trusted relationships while managing appropriate headcount, workload, workflow, ongoing needs and special projects across the firm
  • Lead all development initiatives for the legal support teams, including training, student co-op programs, coaching, performance improvement, conflict management and engagement.
  • Play an important role in supporting key HR initiatives, acting as a contact for questions, providing interpretation on policies, overseeing leaves in conjunction with specialist and benefit teams, and handling complex HR issues.
  • Stay current with market trends and best practices within the legal industry.
  • In collaboration with team members, plan and support various employee wellness and social activities, including health and wellness, employee appreciation events, and lunch and learn series.
  • Act as a point of contact for HR related matters across all offices.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.

Job requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in business administration or human resources management; CHRP/CHRL designation strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing professional teams, preferably (but not required) in a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in a broad range of HR aspects with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Current knowledge of applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations and stays informed of HR best practices within the industry.
  • Demonstrates a “roll up the sleeves” mentality and ability to work with a sense of urgency and take-charge mindset “Own the Results” mindset and work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a complex matrix environment, with focus on building effective teams and strong cohesive firm culture
  • Positive team player, good sense of humour, enthusiastic, and open to new ways of doing things.
