Job Summary:
An SAP Functional Analyst acts as a local expert in SAP ERP systems, facilitating communication and collaboration between the US division's users and the Japan-based headquarters team responsible for SAP management. They will possess in-depth knowledge of various SAP modules (such as Finance, Materials Management, Sales and Distribution, Production Planning, and Human Resources) to analyze business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure the system aligns with local operational requirements
Duties/Responsibilities:
Serving as the primary liaison between US end-users and JP HQ, translating business needs into clear requirements, escalating issues, and ensuring effective resolution of support tickets or enhancements.
Analyzing and documenting US-specific business processes to propose system changes, optimizations, or new functionalities that enhance efficiency, while aligning with global standards set by HQ.
Tracking the progress of proposed changes, projects, or implementations managed by HQ, including monitoring timelines, coordinating testing phases, and reporting status updates to stakeholders.
Providing guidance and training to US users on SAP functionalities, troubleshooting day-to-day issues, and conducting knowledge transfer to minimize disruptions.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate the impact of HQ-led updates, upgrades, or integrations on local operations, and recommending adjustments as needed.
Participating in workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and user acceptance testing to validate that SAP configurations meet US division needs.
Maintaining documentation of local processes, change requests, and system usage to support audits, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Job requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Requires strong analytical skills
Excellent communication abilities for cross-cultural collaboration
Emphasizes advisory and coordination aspects rather than hands-on configuration, given the centralized management structure
Education and Experience:
5+ years of experience with SAP systems.
